I don't exactly mean to "redesign" the whole interface... I like its simplicity but I agree that it could use some eye candy.
The most strict guideline that we've got is that we should not use fixed sizes, everything should be flexible and users should be able to resize the window to get more space if needed.
Things that I like from your design:
- The drop shadow around the main block of content in the centre of the page. Your main block is currently of fixed size (995 px) and we should have it flexible, but I think that's easy.
- The rounded tabs.
- The gradients in most of the elements, including forms, the button areas and the buttons themselves. Although they are a bit too blue for my taste, that's easy to change
- You're using a bigger font size, and it doesn't look too bad.
There's a few more things, but that's what I can see now quickly.
It would be good if you could help us, specially because we are not very good at graphical design (as you probably noticed) But instead of seeing this as a huge redesign work, we can break it down into smaller bits. For example one day we implement rounded tabs, the next time we implement the drop shadow, next time we implement gradients and hovers for buttons and input fields, and so on.
The current estimated release date for LT 2.0 is 2008, by the way, but it would be good to know if and when you could help us. If you can't, that's ok, but would it be ok if we "borrowed" some of your CSS code and images?
