Are there any plans to implement tags in Lifetype?

There are no immediate plans. But, for the sake of discussion and thinking about the future - what would you want them to look like? A free-form text field, that autocompletes previously used tags?

I haven't really seen the need for tags, when you can create new categories just as easily.

I was thinking something like Wordpress tags. Also, I don't really like using categories because having them is not as flexible as having tags and categories. I'd appreciate being able to have at least sub-categories, which would provide the amount of flexibility that I need.

Is it likely that this will ever be implemented?

The development time for LifeType is pretty limited, so not too likely, I think.

What about sub-categories? Would that be feasible?

That seems more doable, but would need to wait until a "major" release of LifeType, which would be 2.0, since the database schema would need to be changed.

It probably is possible to fake it using a character in the category name like "/" and then parsing the category names in smarty, but that is probably more work than it is worth.
