Valid XHTML 1.0 Strict ???

Postby chaghi on Fri Nov 28, 2003 4:05 pm

Hi,
The main page of pLog http://www.plogworld.org/index.php is not valid XHTML 1.0 Strict, according to the W3C validator.
I wonder if this is normal (I suppose it isn't, as the index page has a link to the W3C validator...), or if something got broken, when, and why.

I'm considering using pLog for my personal page (I'm currently using PHP-Nuke, but it has too many functions, the code is a mess, etc), but I'd rather not use a tool that doesn't generate a *completely* standard output.

Regards,

If you look carefully at the output of the validator, you'll see that there are only very very few xhtml compliancy errors related to the xhtml code of the template.

Many of them are related to the fact that we have included links in the text of the posts and forgot to convert things like "&" to "&amp;" (you'll see that there a few like that) or used tags like "<u>" which are apparently. I don't think that the software should take care of what people write in their posts... I mean, I don't it's a task for the software to check that users write "&gt;" when they want to show ">", and so on.

The only thing that might not be compliant is the calendar, but I am not quite sure. In any case, the default template should validate. And if not, we'll fix it :)

there have been reports that the validator gives errors when it shouldn't recently. perhaps its that.

Best regards.
