Mass unused blogs deleting feature.

Mass unused blogs deleting feature.

Postby kouaa-blog on Sun Oct 22, 2006 7:29 am

Hello

Today I have take a look to the number of blogs on my lifetype. I have more than 5500 blogs create (confirmed by email).

But maybe only 25% have at least 1 article published. I'd like to remove all the unused blogs because they blocks sub-domain that many new bloggers would use. And also because it would reduce the MySQL size.

Do you think a feature witch delete all unused blogs could be easily implement ? For example Deleting all blogs older than 1 month and where no post has been published

I've been thinking about something like that for a while but I haven't got the time to work on it... Perhaps somebody else will?

hello!
another solution (maybe simplier) would be to show, in the administration panel, in the blogs list, the creation's date of each blog and the nunmber of created articles...
As we know that a new created blog create an automatic article, having a look on the list would tell us thant this blog is created, for instance, for 2 monthes and is empty... and then, we could delete all blogs with selecting the small crossbox at its left.
Good/bad idea?
Thanks Phunkforce

Sounds like a reasonable feature request. Would you mind reporting this via http://bugs.lifetype.net? We might have the chance to even implement this in LT 1.2.3.

a small change to ogd39 suggestion,

Postby securitywonks on Sat Jul 07, 2007 3:01 am

along with the Small CROSSBOX on the left of each BLOG in the listing, how it will be if you also Add a CHECKBOX beside every blog in the listing and few buttons like SELECT ALL, SELECT RANGE (by selecting the first and last checkboxes, we can have all checkboxes in between automatically selected), and a DELETE button.

This way, we can have the process much more comfortable.

-------
ADDING a SEARCH option with VALIDATED text fields (one text field to take "MAXIMUM number of posts" and when the blog names that show all blogs listed which has posts with value <= the number written above, we can simply understand the situation and take appropriate action.

Likewise, adding time range in drop down menu's help make search results more accurate.

--------
correct me if I am wrong somewhere, thank you

has this feature been added to LT 1.2.3?

I've got dozens of people who are creating blogs, but they never typed anything. I'd like to detect / delete these unactive blogs ;)

It won't happen before 2.0, I think. We try (though not always successfully) to not change the locale files in minor releases, which this change would require.
