How about comments from users?

How about comments from users?

Hey,

I'm working on installing pLog for my wife who is the director of a small non profit in Denver, CO. I installed it on my personal web page to test it out and it looks great! (http://www.ryanandbritta.com/plog). The ease of the installation blew me away. I'm getting ready to put it on her organizations web site. Everyone who worked on this did a great job. I can't wait to really start learning all the inns and outs.

Anyway, my suggestion is to allow users who can post new topics to also post comments to topics. It looks like right now you can only have annonymous comments. One nice thing about allowing at least the regular posters to do comments is that you couldn't impersonate them.

Also, on a side note is there anywhere where the visitors to the blog can see the bio of a registered user?

if i don'tdo wrong, as i suggested to Oscar to add some features regarding permission on some actions, something is coming for the next release, after the 0.31 fix...

i'm planning myself to add some features like a guestbook and some external modules to help groups and organisations to add gadgets to their websites...

see ya

Ryan, do you mean that pLog should recognize when a registered user (registered user == user that has its own user/blog in the same pLog installation) is posting a comment? If so, that feature does not exist yet...

As for the bio, currently the only way at the moment is to develop a custom template with some text. I know that there is a field called "bio" in the "user profile" section but it is not used at the moment  I will try to have a look at it and see what can be done for next version (0.3.1)

Also, nexia -as he himself said- is working on some enhancements so stay tuned, he has suggested some cool stuff ;)

Clarification

Postby Ryan Fisher on Tue Mar 30, 2004 4:36 pm

I think you got it.

I'm only working on a single blog implementation. I would like to have 4 or 5 registered users who are able to post. If a disscussion starts up on a post, it would be nice to be able to respond to comments as a registered user so that people can see right away that it is a more official reply.

I guess I'll try to write a quick template for the bio info. :D Should be good practice.

Hi Ryan, welcome to pLogWorld
As you are noticing, pLog is truly the most flexible system of its kind and I too am contributing to developments. Stay tuned.

The commenting system will be able to recognize logged in users soon. Most of the code is in place and a few tweaks can easily accomplish this.

User Profile pages will also be something pLog can and will handle eventually. Oscar is definately working hard on pLog. Since it has been more publicized recently, he has been communicating with all of us new users and been very helpful and kind.

Good luck with the new site and stay tuned for all kinds of updates.

cheers.
"stay tuned, always "
