contact plugin

Postby mikefer06 on Sat May 23, 2009 4:20 pm

i have placed the contact plugin in the plugin directory, but when I enable the plugin, nothing happens. Is there something that I'm missing.

Thanks,

mike

See the readme.txt in the plugin directory for the template code you need to add. (wherever you want the contact form to appear).

I had the following information from the readme file, but it didn't work:

Install:
1. Configure and enable the plugin in your LifeType control center

Template code - note this plugin will take care of checking if the
plugin is enabled or not, and won't show the form if
it is disabled for the blog.
{if $contact}
{$contact->showContactForm()}
{/if}

NOTE: I have included the necessary template code for authimage and
hiddeninput by default. If you are using any other spam blocking
plugins that require custom template code, you'll need to add it to
plugins/contact/template/form.template (just like you need to do for
the "regular" comment forms). Let me know if there is code you need
to add, and I'll add it to the plugin by default.

thanks,

mike

You put the {if $contact}... part in a template file somewhere? What template file name and what is your URL?

If it isn't live, I probably can't help you further.
You have checked the "enable" button in your control center?

Can you get the form to appear yet? If you can't get that to appear, we need to fix that first.
If you can get that to appear, can you write to say what was broken, so maybe someone in the future will be able to figure it out quicker?

you probably want to copy the about.template to contact.template and then add the form to contact.template.
Then you can put a link on the about page to the contact page. The content of the link depends on what URL syntax you are using, ie. if you use the URL /static/about to get to your about page, then you would simply use /static/contact to get to the contact page.

And your blog is not on the internet yet, or you just don't want to publish it? If it is just a publishing thing, send the URL to me in a private message.

Did you resolve this problem? I am having the same... When I paste the code included in the readme file into the header template, the blog page just turns blank. Without the code, nothing happens. Also, the plugincontact.class.php in the contact plugin folder, just shows a blank site.

Is your site public, so I can see what it is doing?

Do you have any errors in the apache error log?

This Code:

{if $contact}
{$contact->showContactForm()}
{/if}

is wrong. I tried it and it didn't work. In plugincontact.class.php the method is called showForm() so with

{if $contact}
{$contact->showForm()}
{/if}

it works.

Thanks, it probably changed at some point, and the docs weren't updated.
