pLog Poll Plugin

pLog Poll Plugin

Postby gameboy on Fri Dec 09, 2005 12:23 am

I downloaded the plugin plogpoll and uploaded to my test webserver. However, I found the following error after the plugin has been uploaded.

At admin page:
Warning: Call-time pass-by-reference has been deprecated - argument passed by value; If you would like to pass it by reference, modify the declaration of [runtime function name](). If you would like to enable call-time pass-by-reference, you can set allow_call_time_pass_reference to true in your INI file. However, future versions may not support this any longer. in c:\appserv\www\lifetype\plugins\plogpoll\class\dao\plogpollpolls.class.php on line 114

At blog page:

What should I do to solve this error?

I have two webservers. One of them running PHP Version 4.3.10 in MS Windows XP (which is a test perform only). An other one running PHP Version 4.3.11 in FreeBSD (which setup by my friend, coz I don't know Linux).

I test the plug-in plogpoll in MS once. And I know I have an error in the phpMyAdmin page like that:

The $cfg['PmaAbsoluteUri'] directive MUST be set in your configuration file!
The mbstring PHP extension was not found and you seem to be using multibyte charset. Without mbstring extension phpMyAdmin is unable to split strings correctly and it may result in unexpected results.

Is it a problem to cause plogpoll error?

Search on google for the phpmyadmin error, here is one page about that:

http://www.washington.edu/computing/web ... admin.html

I have no idea how this affects lifetype and its plugins.

Thanks for comment. I'm going to take a look on it.

If this will not affect lifetype and its plugins, what is the possible cause to got following errors?

Thanks for reply! I'm using AppServ's PHP which is version 4.3.10. I obtained this information form "Show PHP informaion" of phpMyAdmin's page.

Ah, it looks like in php4, that value defaults to on, but in your install, it is off.

php.ini wrote:; Whether to enable the ability to force arguments to be passed by reference
; at function call time. This method is deprecated and is likely to be
; unsupported in future versions of PHP/Zend. The encouraged method of
; specifying which arguments should be passed by reference is in the function
; declaration. You're encouraged to try and turn this option Off and make
; sure your scripts work properly with it in order to ensure they will work
; with future versions of the language (you will receive a warning each time
; you use this feature, and the argument will be passed by value instead of by
; reference).
allow_call_time_pass_reference = On

Problems unzipping plogpoll.tar

Postby albert22 on Sat Oct 28, 2006 3:03 pm

Dear all,

I'm now an administrator of ChemBlogs.org. I would like to install the plogpoll plugin: however, I've downloaded it but, now, I cannot unzip it because I keep on receiving error messages.

Is there a particular programme I should use?

Where are you downloading it from? I don't see a 1.1 version of it on sourceforge.

ah - I guess the author never told us (or we ignored him)

He used a bzip'ed file, so you will need a bunzip program - I don't think winzip knows how to do that.

No, winzip doesn't.

Do I have to install linux to unzip the file?

Thank you very much!

However, I think there's still a problem with it. I just uploaded the folder and didn't change anything in the templates. I simply had a look at the plugin centre but I couldn't: all I saw, once I had clicked, was a WHITE webpage.

When I removed the folder from the plugins dir, the plugin centre was back.

:?:

Honestly, it's not something of paramount importance: I just want to report it, now.
