fail to view chinese characters in post

Postby hkccc on Thu Sep 14, 2006 1:06 pm

Im sure my SQL Table is in UTF-8
The locale Im using is a EN UTF-8.

I can see the chinese word correctly for the pre-defined items in admin panel, like these tabs
" * 發表新文章
* 文章列表
* 編輯文章分類
* 新增文章分類
* 編輯迴響
* 編輯引用
"

I just cant see chinese correctly for all my entries, how come?

I 've check my DB using phpMyAdmin. It's in utf-8 and I can view the chinese contents of my entries correctly.

I 've got no problems when i was using 1.0.6

Thanks very much

i just made a test

if I create new entry using plog 1.1 the chinese contents can be shown correctly !! but all my old entries are still "????"

~_~

it's so interesting that the new entry is not stored as utf-8 in my DB, but the output to browser is a UTF-8 character... :shock:

Thanks

Postby davekuo on Sat Oct 07, 2006 10:36 am

Hello!

How are you? I would like to know if the reported issue has been resolve! I am facing the same problem and don't know how to get my chinese blog appear correctly after it is safe into database. I did not have such problem in 1.06. (it is currently driving me nuts!

hope that you can kindly share with me the resolution.

I would like to know what configuration did you have for your mysql using the PHPAdmin? I have currently set it to UTF-8

or should I set it to "CREATE DATABASE `blog_test` DEFAULT CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci;"

Hopefully I can get someone's help!

Hi all!

Are you all selecting "Chinese" when installing LT ?
-> That's all the magic for displaying Chinese correctly!

Dear LT developers & all,

I have just installed the newest version v1.2.5 (lifetype-1.2.5_r6015.tar.gz) and found the same problem:
-> checked that the collation of all the database tables are
"latin1_swedish_ci"
-> change them to "utf-8_general_ci"
-> the blog content display looks good for Chinese now!

so, will this problem be corrected in next version?
(i.e. will the collation be utf-8 if we select utf-8 encoding during installation?)
otherwise, we have to manually change the collations each time we install LT!

Hope this help for other guy have the same problem!

It solved my problem too :)

It is quite strange that all major programming languages are written in English and there is not even 1 single programming language which was written in non-english :roll: .

It looks like computers can understand english better :lol: , whereas humans prefer their regional/mother tongues :oops:
